A2. What if I misspell my domain name?

Unfortunately, once a domain name has been registered, it can not be changed. Please type your domain name carefully when placing an order! You will be given a chance to review your information before your order is submitted.

A3. What is a Domain Name?

The following example illustrates the difference between a URL (Uniform Resource Locator) and a domain name:

URL: http://www.example.net/index.html

Domain name: www.example.net

Registered domain name: example.net

A4. What if I already have my own Domain?

You can simply update your namservers (from where you manage your domain names) we will supply you with your new nameserver address, you can leave your domain name registration control, with your current provider.

A5. What exactly is diskspace and bandwidth/data transfer?

Diskspace is the size your website can be. Every single letter on your website has to be stored somewhere on your web host's server. Each letter is one byte, and a megabyte is roughly one million bytes. HTML pages are usually very small, but it is the extra images, scripts, and even databases that can take up large amounts of disk space.

Bandwidth/Transfer is the amount of data the server wil usually measured in gigabytes - billions of bytes.

A6. What are PHP, perl etc?

These are all programming languages which are referred to by their acronyms.

PHP - PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor

Perl - not an acronym

Each programming language has its own benefits and uses. It is best that you research on your own to find one that best fits your needs.

A7. How do I upload my website so it shows up on the Internet?

If you are using Midwebonline for hosting only, you can upload your website using FTP software. FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol, which is an application that allows you to transfer your files to your web site. Think of it as simply copying files from your computer to ours. You may also upload your files by using the built-in File Manager that comes with your cPanel Control Panel.
